Living in Llandaff
Llandaff is technically a city in its own right, and it still reads like one: the cathedral sits in a hollow below the green, with the ruins of the Bishop’s Palace and a short High Street of independent shops above it. It is among the oldest continuously settled parts of Cardiff and looks nothing like the streets that surround it.
The housing runs from substantial Victorian and Edwardian villas near the cathedral to interwar semis towards Danescourt and the river. Insole Court, a Victorian house and gardens open to the public, sits in the middle of it.
Cardiff Metropolitan University’s Llandaff campus is here, Llandaff Fields and Pontcanna Fields run south towards the city, and the Taff Trail passes along the eastern edge.
What sells here
Larger family houses are what Llandaff is known for, and the villas around the cathedral and the green achieve some of the highest prices in west Cardiff. Danescourt offers more modern housing a short way out and is where a good deal of the family demand actually lands.
