Living in Rumney
Rumney was a village in Monmouthshire long before it was part of Cardiff, and the older core around St Augustine’s church on the hill still shows it. Newport Road runs through as the high street, with a working parade of shops along it.
Most of the housing is interwar and post-war — semis with gardens and, on the higher streets, views back over the city and out towards the Severn. The Rhymney river marks the western edge and Rumney Hill rises behind.
It is a straightforward run into the centre along Newport Road, and Junction 30 of the M4 is close for anyone heading east.
What sells here
Families and first-time buyers buy three bedroom semis with gardens here, and that is most of the market. The older properties around the church and the houses highest up the hill sell into a noticeably stronger market than the rest.
