Every home sold in the Grangetown ward (within CF11 0, CF11 6, CF11 7) in the twelve months to April 2026, not only ours. The change compares each kind of home against its own kind a year earlier — detached against detached, flats against flats — because a median follows what happened to sell as much as what it is worth. Living in Grangetown
Grangetown sits in the loop of the Taff between the city centre and the Bay, and it is one of the most genuinely mixed parts of Cardiff — long established as such, and a large part of its character.
The housing is overwhelmingly Victorian terraced, built for the dock and railway workers, in the long straight streets running off Clare Road and Corporation Road. Grange Gardens gives the area its main green space, with the Marl and the Taff embankment along the western edge.
Its position is the thing. The centre is a walk over the river, Cardiff Bay is a walk the other way, and Grangetown has its own station on the line between them. That combination has made it one of the last close-in Cardiff areas where a terraced house is still within reach of a first-time buyer.
What sells here
Terraced housing of two and three bedrooms makes up the market, split roughly evenly between first-time buyers, young families and investors. The streets closest to the river and to Grange Gardens sell fastest, and the larger bay-fronted houses towards Canton achieve the strongest prices.
